whew…

I took quite a beating last week. I am exhausted! Still slightly recovering from a fun holiday weekend. Wrapped up the baby shower I did @ The Reef on Saturday. Jetted over to PV for a dinner party I worked for the catering co - beautiful location… was there on May 10th for a wedding and still waiting on pins and needles to see how the pictures turned out! This private is so amazing. You can really create so many different looks on the property.

I’m loving my schedule right now.

  • November holds something pretty exciting that I can’t share just yet

Moving day is getting closer which has me excited as well as a little stressed. Wall colors and new furniture are so tough to choose - I have commitment issues in this area of life.

I’m helping my brother launch his new business venture - it feels good to help him be so productive.

I’ve been doing a lot ofthinking and talking about my current business plan, where I want to go with it and how I plan to get there. I’ve received a lot of good advice from some pretty great people so I have a lot to consider. We’re just about ready to have another baby soon and that will play a major part in my decision making.

This summer in my “free time” I’ll be teaching myself calligraphy, taking a fun floral class with a couple friends, learning to surf and learning Italian with Madi. We’ll also be taking part in a green group. Busy busy.

I’ve been following the story of Matt, Liz and Madeline. Just heart wrenching. I feel his pain and anger. A week from today will mark three years since the last time I’ve seen my youngest brother. We’re not so in shock anymore but the hurt still remains. I can’t even begin to imagine having to raise a child alone all the while carrying such hurt and anger in your heart, missing the person that was supposed to be sharing this with you. It’s just awful. It really makes you take things into perspective. There’s a lot of negativity out there. You really just have to hold your head up and keep moving forward.

love this print from lushbella (via maggie holmes) feels appropriate for the way I’m feeling.

See you tomorrow.

to do:

The weather is amazing. I’m trying not to get distracted. Lots to do today.

  •  - finish envelope liners for baby announcements I made
  • - drop announcements off with the calligrapher
  • - pick up linen samples for a client
  • - check on floral mock-up for a wedding next month
  • - make changes to the dinner menu for the same event^
  • - check videographer and band price and availabilty for a new client
  • - find luggage for madi for our upcoming trip
  • - get these eyebrows of mine tamed and under control
  • - re-organize my closet (which prob means I’ll end up going shopping)
  • I will NOT be online window shopping or blog stalking! (these are def not on my to-do list)

I want to get all of this finished promptly so that tomorrow madi and I can lounge at the beach. I hear it’s gonna be a scorcher tomorrow.

check out this ring pillow I found via Modern Vintage Designs

you can purchase it from Sweet B Papers/Tinarie21’s etsy shop. So luxurious, might buy it just ’cause

Happy Friday! :)

tickled pink

I’m working with a fun young mama-to-be for her baby shower coming up on the 24th of this month. Her mom and mother-in-law asked me to pull together some of the details for the day. I think we’re gonna have some fun! I sat with the mama-to-be for a bit to figure out where we’d begin. They had already sent out invitations with a hot pink and brown zebra border, similar to these. An event always looks better when all of the details are coordinated, so that was our jumping point.

We now have brown favor boxes with a special treat inside - can’t spoil the surprise for the guests! Those will be tied u with brown and ivory zebra ribbon w/ hot pink tags.

Now, I’m no floral designer but the mother-in-law happens to be pretty close to me so when she asked if I’d do the florals I really couldn’t say no. Off I went to Mayesh and picked out flowers and greenery that I knew would be easy to use. Here’s the result:

Hot pink ranunculus, tulips, roses, paler pink peonies (swoon!), hypericum berries and leaves I forget the name of :/

This was a quick mock-up. For the day of we’ll be using smaller cylinders that will be placed in larger square vases lined with coffee beans and wrapped with hot pink double faced satin ribbon layered over the brown and ivory zebra print ribbon. We’re rethinking the berries and considering some branchy type things like ting ting or fern shoots (tee hee, Cee!). All in all methinks it came out better than decent. I doubt good ol’ R. Jack or Asiel will be knocking at my door but oh well. I’ll live.

  • met Mimi from Enjoy Celebrations and Occasions - LOVE her! had a grand ol’ time chit chatting over coffee and iced tea and exchanging ideas and musing over business
  • had a drink or two with a past client/current friend - LOVE catching up, gossip and snarking ’bout just about everything. Super fun and I woke up with a headache to prove it! :)

Yay for me I made it back here just befor emy deadline of TILT.

j and m

LOOOOVE this couple. Love their fam. Love their friends. So much beauty in all of these people.

Guests gathered on the penthouse patio the the luxurious LUXE hotel and enjoyed 360 degree views of Beverly Hills.

We had Karl Grossman (an awesome guitarist - with little help from j’s son and another family member at times.) Chair sashes by Dress My Chair. Lee Stock (contact me for info) and his assistant were there filming the ceremony and reception. Anne a friend of j’s created her invitations, guestbook and had a hand in the centerpieces.

The ceremony was performed by j’s bff T. Such a sweet and fun gal, though I believe this may have been her first and last officiant gig - sorry! ;)

I think I know a few would agree with me when I say that the best part of the day was “little man” yelling for his legos. I love the honesty of kids.

Crissy (my favorite) was on deck to capture the days events. some images I swiped from her blog:

worst.blogger.ever

I even promised Crissy that I’d be good. Meh.

Hmm. What have I been up to. A lot, that’s what.

I’ve had a couple of really fun events. Fabulous meetings with equally fabulous clients. A super cute wedding for a super cute couple I looove - pictures to come, I’m sure ;)

On the 16th I was invited to a Brides.com networking event. The ladies at Details, Details had a hand in the planning and designing. Those women have some fabulous taste - there were the cutest brown chair covers that looked like trailing tutus. (My Madi girl would love them!)

The best part of the night was getting to see some familiar faces and meeting a few new ones. I was especially excited to meet Kerrie, Christina and her dashing husband James and I even got to meet the bubbly Jasmine Star and her twinkle eyed husband, JD. ALl beautiful people inside and out. I love, love, love making new friends. Looking forward to seeing them again soon.

I’m no photographer, so you’re going to hav eto check out the images that Jasmine posted on her blog.

Gotta run… pet shows to plan and PTA meetings to attend. (It still baffles me that I’m a PTA mom)

Here’s a pic of my baby just for fun!

Wanted:

A fellow coordinator was recently chatting me up about the Vibiana. She had gone a site check there and came back absolutely singing its praises. It had completely escaped my mind until I picked up the newest People magazine laying around at my mom’s house. There is was. Katharine McPhee’s wedding spread. A beautiful event with a shabby chic feel. The spread just wasn’t enough for me. With GIYF in mind, I hit up InStyle Weddings for more. I found the wonderful above image by Joe Buissink and the link to the venue’s site and now I’m in love.

There aren’t a whole lot of stark canvases here in sunny CA like there are in NY. The Vibiana is just the venue I’ve been looking for. If you’re planning on getting married there, drop me a line - you might score yourself a sweet deal in trade for some fab pics at a fab event. :)
****** update!
A Soolip Wedding is hosting their fab bridal event at the Vibiana on 3.30.08! so.excited. I’ll be there with a wonderful invitation designer chit chatting and taking in the sights. Maybe we’ll see you there? :)

You’re live caller

Actually, I’m the one that’s live - my website that is. I’ll still have to make some modifications to the layout once I get familiar with the tools and figure out how exactly I’d like to customize the site and all. Aaaaand, I’ll need to update the galleries as the images come in from various photographers (ahem).

Oh, and please ’scuse the bridal shot of me in the about section. I took some headshots with my FAVORITE photographer (not to mention wonderful friend) yesterday and I’ll be replacing the image very soon.
I finally feel official. It feels good :)
*****update*****
the bridal portrait has been replaced w/ a “real” picture :)
